The Brainerd Public Schools Foundation announces its sixth annual Big Event will be Feb. 2 at Cragun's Legacy Pavilion.
This volunteer-organized event celebrates the district's public schools and raises funds for the Brainerd Public Schools Foundation.
The BPSF mission is to enhance opportunities for quality academics, activities, arts and athletics by awarding annual grants and scholarships. Since 1996, BPSF has made over $200,000 in grants available to teachers for special projects that have impacted student learning. These grants are funded through general donations, Brainerd Public Schools staff campaign donations, the Big Event and other event proceeds, and five specifically endowed funds held with BPSF.
The organization is encouraging businesses to contribute items to the silent auction to support this work. The public can bid on items in the online auction whether or not they attend the event. Bidding in the online auction will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 29 on www.bigevent19.givesmart.com , and will close at 8:30 p.m. Feb. 2.
The evening will include a VIP social hour with raffles, games and demonstrations from 4A grant recipients. Social hour entertainment will feature the live musical talent of Brainerd High School student Danny Olson.
