Brainerd Public Schools has received a mini-grant from the American Association of School Administrators to fill urgent needs in the district.
The AASA announced this week the recipients of the 2016 Helping Kids Program, funded by the organization through a partnership with the National Joint Powers Alliance.
The $2,000 grant can be used for immediate needs directly impacting students. Grantees' requests have ranged from boots, coats and non-perishable sundries to dental care and even temporary housing stipends.
The AASA was founded in 1865 and serves as the professional organization for more than 13,000 educational leaders in the U.S. and throughout the world.
