The annual competition for VFW Voice of Democracy scholarship awards is now open.
Students in ninth through 12th grades write and read their composition with the theme, “Is This the Country the Founders Envisioned?”
Up to $300 is awarded locally with winners going to state and national competition sharing $154,000.
Students in sixth through eighth grades enter the Patriot’s Pen competition. This year’s theme is “What is patriotism to me?” First place locally is $300 with winners going to state and national competition sharing $55,000.
