EAST GULL LAKE - A 44-year-old Brainerd woman was injured in a two-vehicle, head-on crash reported at 7:32 a.m. Tuesday on County State Aid Highway 77 in Cass County, just east of Cragun's Legacy Golf Courses near East Gull Lake.
The Minnesota State Patrol said a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Dain R. Barrett, 21, Brainerd, was traveling eastbound on 77, also known as Pine Beach Road. Due to slippery and wet road conditions, the truck slid over into the westbound traffic hitting a Buick Roadmaster head-on, the state patrol said. The driver of the Buick, Angela K. Simmonds, was transported by ambulance to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center and then airlifted to the St. Cloud Hospital where she was treated and then released.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene and the Pillager Fire Department was on scene to extricate Simmonds from the Buick.
The crash delayed the morning work rush and traffic was backed up over a mile in both directions on 77.
