A 30-year-old Breezy Point man is facing felony domestic assault charges for an incident that occurred in August.
Blaine Jared Triden was charged Aug. 26 in Crow Wing County District Court in Brainerd with felony domestic assault by strangulation and misdemeanor domestic assault.
The charges stem from a call at 1:02 a.m. Aug. 24 at a residence in Breezy Point. According to the court document filed against Triden, while en route Breezy Point police officers were notified the victim left the residence and would meet officers a block away in a vehicle. The officers made contact with the victim who was visibly distraught, crying and at times she appeared to be hyperventilating.
The woman stated she had been out earlier that night with a friend. She later made contact with Triden, who is known to her, and he became upset with her and an argument began that became physical. The woman stated Triden took her phone from her so she couldn't call a friend to come get her. After that, Triden pinned her to the ground and was forcibly pushing her head into the ground on her left side. She stated Triden also had her in a "chokehold," the court document stated.
The officer asked the woman if her ability to breath or to speak was impacted by Triden's actions when he put her in the "chokehold," and she stated yes, she was unable to speak. The woman stated she was about as fearful as someone can be for their safety. According to the complaint, the woman stated this is not the only time Triden has assaulted her.

Triden pointed out he had a quarter-inch scratch on the right side of his neck just above the shoulder.
