John Anderson of Hengel Construction used a backhoe Monday, July 2, to demolish a house on North Second Street in Brainerd.

The site is being cleared for a new Thrifty White Pharmacy.

Dave Rueter, Thrifty White executive vice president of personnel in Plymouth, said Brainerd was the site of the first Thrifty Drug Store in the 1950s before the merger with White Drug. The store has been in several locations and has been in the South Eighth Street location for more than a decade.
