WAUKENABO-A broadside collision involving two semitractor-trailers in Aitkin County claimed the life of a Merrifield man late Thursday morning.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported Terry Lee Page, 60, of Merrifield, died as the result of injuries suffered in a collision at the intersection of Highway 169 and County Highway 3 in Waukenabo Township.
Responders were notified of a crash at 11:44 a.m. involving a Kenworth semitractor hauling a box trailer that Page was operating and a Mack semitractor pulling a load of lumber operated by Garin Lee Hockett, 45, of Backus. Hockett received care for non-life threatening injuries.
According to the state patrol, the Kenworth semitractor was southbound on Highway 169 when it broadsided the Mack semitractor's lumber trailer at the intersection of County Highway 3.
Road conditions were dry at the time. Both operators were wearing seat belts, according to the crash report.
