2 join Baratto Brothers Construction
Andy Pickar and Jack Myers joined the Baratto Brothers Construction team.
Pickar joined BBC in 2016, adding an experienced project manager position to Baratto Brothers Commercial Services. Pickar is a graduate of Brainerd High School and went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in construction management from Minnesota State University Mankato. Out of school, he began working as a project manager for a few mechanical contractors in the metro area. Pickar and his family returned to the Brainerd lakes area in 2013 where he managed all of the construction and maintenance projects for Mills Fleet Farm and Mills Automotive Group. Pickar is currently working on the new Mills Fleet Farm in Monticello.
Myers joined BBC in 2016 and joined the residential project management division. Myers is

from Hutchinson and graduated from Bemidji State University with a bachelor of science degree
in construction management. Myers has worked in the construction industry for the past three years accumulating hands on experience that he brings to the Baratto Brothers Construction team.
Residents earn first responder certification
Seven area residents on Jan. 25 received their First Responder Certification and are now Minnesota licensed Emergency Medical Responders.
The test came after 18 weeks of training at CRMC. CRMC offers periodic training for certification as EMRs and EMTs. Those interested in signing up for classes may call 218-546-2344.

Dine and Discover discusses crimes that target seniors
At Horizon Health's Faith in Action's next Dine and Discover people will learn about scams that are currently affecting local seniors and what we need to be aware of.

BLAEDC to host annual meeting
The Brainerd Lakes Area Economic Development Corporation's annual meeting is set from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. March 6 at Arrowwood Lodge at Brainerd Lakes in Baxter.
The event will include local business perspectives and a featured presentation.

Operation RoundUp donations distributed
Since Operation Round-Up's inception in late 1996, more than $3.1 million has been donated to

community projects and programs in Cass, Crow Wing and Morrison counties. Operation RoundUp is funded by participating members of Crow Wing Power who allow the cooperative to round up their electric bills to the nearest whole dollar. The additional change is pooled and distributed quarterly.
During its quarterly meeting in January, the Crow Wing Power Community Trust Board donated $59,500 to local community programs. Operation RoundUp funds were distributed to
the following projects: $500 to Trinity Lutheran Church Quilters, Brainerd; $500 to First Lutheran Church Quilters, Little Falls; $2,000 to Salem West, Salem Outreach, Deerwood; $2,500 to University of St. Thomas, Center for Nonprofit Management., St. Paul; $3,500 to Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen, Brainerd; $3,000 to Forestview Middle School, Fuel-Up Program, Brainerd; $1,000 to ISD No. 482, Day of Caring, Little Falls; $35,000 to twelve area food shelves; $500 to Crow Wing County Licensed Family Childcare, Baxter; $1,500 to Priceless4Purpose, Pequot Lakes; $1,000 to Mount Ski Gull, Nisswa; $1,000 to Mn. 4-H Foundation, Crow Wing County; $1,500 to Confidence Learning Center, East Gull Lake; $3,000 to Family Safety Network of Cass County, Walker; $500 to Fun Books for Kids, Pequot Lakes; $500 to The Crossing Arts Alliance, Brainerd; and $2,000 to Private Cooperative Member Crisis Medical Support.
The next quarterly meeting is scheduled for April 27. Grant forms can be obtained by
