CROSSLAKE-Camp Knutson staff and area quilters are preparing for the 30th annual Camp Knutson Quilt Auction on Aug. 13. In addition to the variety of quilts always shown at the auction, this year's auction will feature special Minnesota-themed quilts. These quilts feature limited edition licensed fabrics produced annually from 2007 through 2015.

Camp Knutson staff are holding a quilt made from fabrics of 2007. The quilt is entitled "Minnesota Mosaic" and is composed of more than 2,500 one inch squares. The quilt was pieced by an area quilter and machine quilted by Rebecca Anakkala of Brainerd. The other Minnesota-themed quilts feature fabrics ranging from Minnesota parks, winter scenes and cityscapes to licensed prints by wildlife artist James A Mager.

Quilts are arriving daily at Camp Knutson from quilters throughout the nation for the auction. Additional quilts include baby quilts, vintage children's embroidered quilts, Christmas and Halloween quilts and quilts featuring both traditional and modern patterns of all sizes. Samples of quilts may be seen in the Crosslake Community Library showcases during the month of June or on the Camp Knutson Quilt Auction Facebook page.

The Camp Knutson Quilt Auction will be at Camp Knutson in Crosslake. This fun family event begins with a silent auction from 9:30-11:30 a.m. featuring quilts, wall hangings, table runners and smaller quilted items. The live auction starts at noon and focuses on quilts and large wall hangings. The event is sponsored by the Paul Bunyan Auxiliary of Lutheran Social Service to benefit children with identified needs attending Camp Knutson. The Camp Knutson Quilt Auction and the Night Under the Stars event on July 16 are the two major summer fundraisers benefitting Camp Knutson.
