A driver who swerved to avoid a deer early Sunday morning and a passenger were both transported to the hospital.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Donald E. Bradley, 36, of Mankato, was driving a 1998 Nissan Maxima southbound on Highway 64 near milepost 16 in Cass County at the time of the crash. At 3:28 a.m., Bradley swerved to avoid a deer, the crash report stated, and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to enter the left side ditch, roll and hit a tree.

Bradley and a passenger, Steven L. Coburn, 41, of St. Paul, both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Lakewood Health Systems hospital in Staples. The state patrol noted in its report that no impairment was suspected in the crash. Both men were wearing seat belts.
