BACKUS — Mark Peterson, Cass County assessor, was recently honored and reappointed.
Peterson received the 2020 Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers Assessor of the Year Award.
County Administrator Josh Stevenson shared the news with the Cass County Board at its Tuesday, Oct. 20, regular meeting.
Peterson was nominated by Region IV and has been the chair of the Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers Legislative Committee for the past several years, working to improve the assessments in Minnesota through collaborating among legislators, assessors and many other stakeholders. Peterson has helped lead the organization to partner with the Association of Minnesota Counties and has instructed seminars for the Minnesota Association of Assessing Officers sponsored continuing education. Peterson has also served as Region IV president and director in the past and is a strong mentor and leader in the assessment community in northern Minnesota.
After sharing the news of this award, the board motioned to adopt a resolution to reappoint Mark Peterson as Cass County assessor for another four-year term and Board Chair Neal Gaalswyk administered the oath of office.
