The Cass County Highway Department is reminding landowners on Cass County roads south of Trunk Highway 87 and west of Highway 371 to take certain steps if they do not want the county to use herbicide to control roadside brush and noxious weeds in the right-of-way.

The procedures, and outlined by the county, are:

• "No Spraying" signs must be erected by the landowner at each property edge intersection with county right-of-way. Signs must be erected by July 1, 2017 and remain up until Sept. 1, 2017.

• Persons erecting such signs automatically assume the responsibility for brush control on all county right-of-ways affected by said sign posting

• If a person erecting "No Spraying" sign(s) fails to maintain brush control on county road right-of-way that he has posted, the County retains the right to subsequently spray the right-of-way and bill the owner for these services.
