The cause of a fire that destroyed a cabin in Lake Edward Township Tuesday night remains under investigation.

Nisswa Fire Chief Richard Geike said an official with the state fire marshal's office was on scene Wednesday to inspect the burned building, located on the 11000 block of Crystal Lake Road.

The department responded to the fire about 9 p.m. Tuesday after a passerby reported the cabin was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters called the Mission Fire Department for mutual aid, and Geike said about 25 firefighters battled the blaze until 2 a.m. Wednesday. No one was in the home at the time. The Nisswa Police Department, Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office and North Memorial Ambulance assisted at the scene.

According to the Crow Wing County detailed parcel report, the seasonal residential property is owned by David and Christina Menter of Minneapolis. The estimated value of the cabin is $18,700 and it sits on 8.7 acres of land. The landowners were unable to be reached for comment.
