A 26-year-old Brainerd man faces felony domestic assault charges after allegedly attacking a woman who turned off the TV while he was watching a football game.
Elric Lance Flory was charged Nov. 6 in Crow Wing District Court with two felony counts of domestic assault.
The charges stem from a domestic dispute reported at 7:28 p.m. Nov. 5 at an apartment in Brainerd. According to the criminal complaint filed, Flory assaulted the victim and threw things around the residence. The officers arrived and Flory appeared to be upset and aggressive, yelling at them while walking toward their squad cars, the complaint stated.

The victim told police Flory was watching a football game and she didn’t want to watch it so she turned the TV off. Flory began yelling and picked up a bowl of cottage cheese and threw it at her but it didn’t hit her, she said.
Flory continued to yell and tried to grab her phone. The woman said she grabbed her cellphone and the house phone and laid down on the bed with both phones clutched underneath her chest so he could not grab them. Flory jumped on her back and was attempting to grab the phones out of her hand.
During this, the victim said her hair was pulled and Flory scratched her hand. Another man then came into the room and grabbed Flory off of the victim. Flory then allegedly jumped back on top of her and another witness called law enforcement.
Officers arrested Flory, who was extremely uncooperative with them throughout the process, according to police. They reported he kicked the windows inside the squad car and kicked the cell doors when he arrived at the jail.
According to court documents, Flory has a criminal history of three prior qualified domestic violence-related offenses within the last 10 years.
As of Monday, Nov. 16, he continued to be in custody. His next court hearing is 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
