A fifth candidate has entered the race for the Brainerd School Board.
Baxter resident Charles Black Lance filed Friday for the post.
"I decided to run for the Brainerd School Board because I value effective public education and am passionate about the success of young learners as well as the success of those educating them," he said.
With three young children, Lance said he strives to "be a loving, informed and active parent."
Lance said he has served on many local, regional and statewide boards and organizations.

Currently, he serves on the Board of Trustees for the Initiative Foundation.
He works at Central Lakes College, where he has "served high school and college students for 15 years to help ensure their academic success and preparation."
"Professionally, I collaborate and advocate for students," he said.
Lance added, "As part of the Brainerd School Board, it is my goal to support our district educators in successfully challenging our young learners, while building capacity (the ability to do) throughout the district both financially and professionally, as well as creating an academic vision that is ambitious yet attainable."
