Central Lakes College invites the community to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day Feb. 2.
The CLC athletics department will host Shelly Boyum-Breen, a children's book author, at 11:30 a.m. for a reading in the Chalberg Theatre on the Brainerd campus. In addition to reading one of her books, Boyum-Breen will share with youths and families what she has always loved about playing sports and how "Shelly Bean the Sports Queen" can inspire children to persevere. Autographed books will be for sale the day following Boyum-Breen's talk.
Then CLC invites people to attend the CLC Raiders women's basketball game at 1 p.m. to be eligible for prizes, which will then be followed by the men's game at 3 p.m.
