Cadets in the Central Lakes College law enforcement skills program recently participated in training on conducting field sobriety testing.

The skills program is the only one in the state of Minnesota to certify students in the national Toward Zero Deaths program.

The skills program allows students to get a look into the career of law enforcement. Students get in the driver's seat of new squad cars, which come with the same software officers use on the streets. It is the only program in the state offering the experience.

In this eight-week program, students are trained in firearms, defensive tactics, using a Taser, chemical aerosol, radar and using Lidar. There are some introductory classes offered online as well.
