Central Lakes College announced the addition of a Spanish transfer pathway associates of arts degree.

Transfer pathway degrees are created by teams of educators from the Minnesota State system. These degrees allow students to earn associates in arts degrees at CLC and transfer seamlessly to Minnesota state universities and earn a bachelor’s degree in four years, a news release stated. Students who complete transfer pathway degrees will be guaranteed junior status upon admission to a university and can complete their degree in an additional 60 credits. Students must still meet any special admission requirements for the major.

“We are excited to offer this opportunity to students,” Martha Kuehn, CLC’s dean of liberal arts and sciences, said in the release. “Students can now complete our new Spanish Transfer Pathway AA Degree at CLC, and then complete their bachelor’s degree at any Minnesota State university in two years. The powerful transfer pathway option ensures that all credits completed at CLC will be accepted by the university and count towards the bachelor’s degree.”

Students can start the Spanish transfer pathway degree in fall 2020.

Other transfer pathway offerings at CLC include economics, exercise science, psychology and sociology. Additional transfer pathway programs will be announced in the near future, the release stated.
