Central Lakes College announced another five years of funding for the TRIO Student Support Services program.

The U.S. Department of Education re-funded the program with a grant for $280,024 per year, increased from the previous grant of $235,000 per year.

“I am so proud to be part of a learning community of students and staff pulling in the same direction toward the dismantling of barriers, while empowering students toward academic success, graduation and transfer to a four-year college,” Charles Black Lance, TRIO programs director, said in a news release.

CLC TRIO Student Support Services provides direct support for students to successfully complete their associates of arts degree and assist participants in a successful transfer pathway to a four-year college or university for a bachelor’s degree. The program has been on CLC’s campus since 2001.

TRIO’s individual advising, as well as creating connections with other students, creates an environment for academic and personal success.
