A fundraiser to assist veterans is asking for donations of clothing, bedding, shoes and purses.
The fundraiser by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) 1647 Auxiliary is ongoing through Saturday with a trailer for donations at the back of the VFW, 309 S. Sixth St. Brainerd.
All money raised will benefit veterans receiving care at Breath of Life Day Center at Woodland Care Facility.
The Brainerd Disabled Veterans Chapter 22 offered the use of its trailer to gather the "soft" items. The VFW Auxiliary is asking its members to contribute and stated it needs help from the community to fill the trailer.
"Please clean a closet and bring your items down and help out our aged veterans who may have a disability that takes them to this necessary day care," the VFW stated. The day care provides relief to caregivers, allowing them respite for a few hours in the day.
