A motion to convene a grand jury in the criminal case against Tyler Allan Cronquist, one of the two Brainerd men charged in the connection of the Jan. 4 double shooting on the 800 block of Juniper Street in Brainerd, has been filed in Crow Wing County District Court, Crow Wing County Attorney Don Ryan said Monday.
Tyler Allan Cronquist, 23, appeared before Judge David J. Ten Eyck on Monday morning for an omnibus hearing. Cronquist, dressed in a Crow Wing County Jail-issued navy blue jumpsuit with his hands shackled at his waist, stood before the judge with his public defender Gregory Davis.
Davis asked the judge to continue the hearing for 45 days. Ryan had no problem with continuing the hearing. Ten Eyck agreed to the 45 days and scheduled his next hearing at 1:30 p.m. April 6.
Ryan told the court he had also filed a motion to convene a grand jury in the case. A grand jury typically is convened in Minnesota to consider charges of first-degree murder.
Cronquist and Nathan David Becker, 26, were each charged in the double shooting where two victims - Joseph Kroll, 31, Brainerd, and Chelsey Crawford, 31, Brainerd - were shot in the head at an apartment at the Juniper Street address. The victims were airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where Kroll died as a result of the gunshot wound.

Cronquist was charged with second-degree murder with intent but not premeditation; attempted second-degree murder with intent; first-degree assault to cause great bodily harm; and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
Becker was charged with aiding and abetting Cronquist on all four counts.
