Reconstruction of County Highway 33 is scheduled to be substantially complete by Sept. 16.

The Crow Wing County Highway Department entered into a contract with RL Larson Excavating Inc. for the reconstruction. With the underground utilities now complete, the contractors will focus on finishing the road grade from Winona Avenue to Highway 210.

This week, Honer Construction will be on site to finalize the last four blocks of road grading Winona Avenue to 10th Avenue and Fifth Avenue to Highway 210. Anderson Brothers is scheduled for paving from 10th Avenue to Seventh Avenue in an effort to have this segment complete for the new school year. Knife Lake Concrete will be on site multiple times this week to pour sidewalks, driveways, curbs and gutters.

County Highway 33 is currently closed to all traffic. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes to access residential homes and take advantage of off-street parking if available, a news release stated. For residents and businesses north of County Highway 33, 10th Avenue Southwest will remain open throughout the project. A detour map can be found at
