Looking forward to the growth of spring flowers already after the first snowstorm of the winter season?

The Crow Wing County Soil and Water Conservation District is selling native seeds for fall dormant seeding

The septic mound mix/bank stabilization (15 species, 1,500 square feet), wild meadow (24 species, 500 square feet) and lawn alternative seed (five species, 500 square feet) mixes can be bought at 322 Laurel St., Suite 22, or online.

Each of these packages are priced at $37. Also available are meadow blazing star and black-eyed Susan seed mix, or wild lupine and yellow coneflower seed mix, for $25 per package that will cover 200 square feet.

Native plants are drought tolerant and grow in part to full sun. Packets include perennial flowering plants, grasses and a cover crop. The Brainerd area plants generally become fully established in two to three years.

The 2017 Crow Wing County Plat Book is also available for purchase for $38 at the same location as the seeds and online at www.crowwingus . Wall maps are also available.

The 170-page book features township and range maps of the county and include the property boundaries for all rural parcels within the township, the name of the owner, the number of acres owned, and a handy landowner index for easy cross referencing.
