The Crow Wing County Land Services Department is asking for help from the public in locating whoever is responsible for the theft and vandalism of recently installed grant-in-aid ATV signs and signposts.

The Cuyuna Iron Range Riders ATV Club recently installed the trail signs on the Miller Black Bear Area Trail located west of the Section Six mine pit lake in Irondale and Wolford townships.

Volunteers from the ATV club noted some signs were flattened by a vehicle, removed or otherwise damaged during Memorial Day weekend, and again the week before and after Fourth of July weekend. Damage or theft of state-funded signs carries a penalty of up to $700.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office at 218-829-4749.
