Couple on motorcycle seriously injured in crash

A husband and wife were seriously injured when the Suzuki street bike they were on rear-ended a farm tractor at 3:02 p.m. Thursday on Highway 169 in Mille Lacs County, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Keith A. Nelson, 39, Fresno, Calif., was taken to Fairview Northland Hospital in Princeton. His wife, Katherine R. Nelson, 30, Laton, Calif., who was a passenger, was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. The Nelsons were both wearing helmets.

The driver of the 1953 John Deere tractor, Vernon F. Olson, 71, Buckeye, Ariz., had no apparent injuries.

The state patrol said the tractor and motorcycle were both traveling northbound on Highway 169 in the right lane when the collision happened.

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office assisted the state patrol at the scene.
