Crash along Highway 169 injures 2

Four people were involved in the two-vehicle crash Nov. 9 north of Onamia.

ONAMIA — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday, Nov. 9, along Highway 169 along Mille Lacs Lake near Eddy’s Resort, north of Onamia.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported a Pontiac Torrent was traveling south on Highway 169 near Shakopee Lake Road, when it crossed the center line and struck a northbound Volkswagen Passat. The Pontiac came to rest in the south ditch and the Volkswagen came to rest in the north ditch.

The crash was reported at 4:48 p.m.

The driver of the Pontiac, Jake R. Gunn, 22, Palisade, and a passenger in the Volkswagen, Sunny M. Furney, 21, Onamia, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia.

The driver of the Volkswagen, Kyle A. Bruce, 34, St. Cloud, and his second passenger, Dustin D. Krieger, 27, Onamia, were not injured.


All the people involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts and the airbags in both vehicles were deployed, the state patrol reported.

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office and Onamia ambulance assisted the state patrol at the scene.
