BAXTER-Five people were injured in a three-vehicle crash at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday on Golf Course Drive and Excelsior Road in Baxter.

The Baxter Police Department reported Melissa Ann Giles, 46, Brainerd, was driving a GMC east on Excelsior and Amy Lyn Obrien, 31, Onamia, was driving a Buick Century south of Golf Course Drive, when the GMC collided with the passenger car at the four-way stop sign intersection. The Century then struck a Ford Taurus, driven by Kevin Wayne Strom, 49, Randall, who was in the northbound lane of Golf Course Drive.

Giles, along with passengers from Obrien's vehicle, were injured and transported by North Memorial Ambulance to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. The passengers were Meghanne R. Benjamin, 17, and Monica A. Kegg, 41, both of Onamia.

Obrien and her passenger Maysun G. Shingobee, 33, Onamia, were transported to the hospital by private vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation.
