REMER-A 61-year-old man died Wednesday after the Jeep Grand Cherokee he was driving struck a semitrailer on Highway 200 in Cass County.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported a semitrailer hauling a stake trailer was traveling west near Lock Trail Northeast in Remer Township. The semi was reversing into a private drive on the south side of Highway 200, when its trailer was struck by the Jeep that was headed east.
The state patrol identified the man who died as David L. Schildt of Cohasset. The state patrol reported Schildt was wearing a seat belt and the airbag was not deployed in the Jeep.
The driver of the semitrailer, David C. Elyea, 33, Remer, was not injured.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office assisted the state patrol with the fatal crash reported at 8:25 p.m.
