Crash injures 5 on Highway 371
The crash Friday night involved three vehicles that were all traveling north.
Five people suffered injuries in a three-vehicle crash Friday night north of Brainerd.
The crash was reported on wet roads at 5:24 p.m. Friday on Highway 371 north of Johnson Road.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported the three vehicles were all northbound on Highway 371 at the time of the crash.
Drivers of a Chevy Silverado and a Honda Pilot were stopped in the left lane as traffic ahead was moving for an emergency vehicle on the shoulder, the state patrol reported. Then a chain reaction crash enveloped those vehicles.
The driver of a Chevy Cruze struck the Pilot, which then struck the Silverado, resulting in multiple injuries — although none was reported to be life-threatening.
The injured included Chase T. Renville, 24, Brownton, who was driving the 2017 Cruze and his three passengers, Cody J. Koshiol, 24, Clearwater, along with Kendra R. Schlangen, 25, Cold Spring and Bree M. Wyatt, 26, St. Cloud. All were taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd.
In the 2018 Honda Pilot, driver Jennifer L. Hines, 41, Brainerd, was also injured and taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center.
Travis J. Pikula, 38, Baxter, driver of the 2018 Chevy Silverado, was not reported injured.
All those involved in the three vehicles were wearing seat belts.
