AITKIN — A 32-year-ol Ramsey man was taken into custody after allegedly taking a woman against her will.

The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest followed a 911 call to a two-vehicle rollover crash at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, 3 miles north of Aitkin in Aitkin Township. The sheriff’s official along with the Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash. Upon arrival at the scene officers determined there were no injuries, however, witnesses told officers that a woman who had been a passenger in one of the vehicles had been taken from a home against her will. Witnesses observed the man pull into a driveway and physically put the woman into his pickup and then drive away. Both witnesses used their vehicles to chase the pickup. At one point two of the vehicles collided, one leaving the roadway and rolling over, the sheriff’s office reported.

The driver of the pickup fled into the nearby woods. A K-9 officer was deployed and the suspect was located hiding in the woods. The Ramsey man then was taken into custody. The man has two domestic abuse no contact orders prohibiting him from having contact with the woman he had taken from the home.
