Crash near Wadena kills 1

A 23-year-old Little Falls man was killed following a 4-person, 2-vehicle crash near Wadena Thursday evening.

Adam J. Denny, 23, Little Falls, died at the scene of a crash at 6:51 p.m. Thursday on Highway 71 near the intersection of Bottemiller Drive near Wadena, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Charles E. Denny, 56, Staples, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina southbound on Highway 71 and was stopped in the left turn lane, waiting to turn onto Bottemiller Drive. His son, Adam J. Denny, was a passenger in his vehicle.

A Chevrolet Silverado pulling a trailer traveling northbound on Highway 71 driven by Don R. Poplin, 25, Hewitt, approached the intersection. Joshua S. Farber, 23, Frazee, was a passenger in Poplin's vehicle.

The Lumina, driven by Charles E. Denny, turned in front of the Silverado at the last second and the Silverado broadsided the Lumina pushing it into the ditch. The Silverado rolled coming to rest in the ditch.

Adam J. Denny died at the scene of the crash, and all other parties were transported to Tri-County Health Care in Wadena with non-life threatening injuries.

All four people involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted by the Wadena County Sheriff's Office, Wadena Police Department, Wadena Fire Department, Verndale Police Department and Tri-County Ambulance.
