Crash Update: Driver and 2 passengers hospitalized following Monday night crash

BAXTER - A driver and two of her passengers were injured in a two-vehicle crash reported at 9:38 p.m. Monday on Highways 371 and 210 in Baxter, the Baxter Police Department reported.

BAXTER - A driver and two of her passengers were injured in a two-vehicle crash reported at 9:38 p.m. Monday on Highways 371 and 210 in Baxter, the Baxter Police Department reported.

Verena Lynne Buss Walton, Baxter, 49, driving a Honda CR-V, was eastbound on Highway 210 near the Highway 210 and 371 intersection. A Chevy Cavalier, driven by Amber Rose Connors, Ashland, Wis., 21, was in the left southbound lane on Highway 371 heading toward Highway 210. Police said the Cavalier ran a red light, went into the intersection and struck the Honda.

Walton was possibly injured, but was not transported to the hospital. Connors and two of her four passengers were injured and transported by North Memorial Ambulance to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. The two passengers who were transported to the hospital were Carter Dean Allen, 40, Walker, and Atreyue Mitchell Mayotte, an infant, Ashland, Wis., who were both treated and released. The two passengers who were not injured were Devrey Dean Allen, 3, and Leaha Nicole Wittner, 28, both of Walker.

Brainerd firefighters had to extricate three people from the Cavalier.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office and Brainerd Police Department assisted Baxter police at the scene. While crews worked the scene, BNSF Railway was notified to stop the trains as a precaution.
