Minnesota man sentenced to 12 years for abusive sexual contact in northeast SD county

ABERDEEN, S.D. — A 64-year-old Moose Lake, Minn., man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for sexually abusing two children under the age of 12 in Roberts County in northeast South Dakota.

Roland Joseph Brant was convicted of two counts of abusive sexual contact with the children in incidents that occurred 12 years ago. He was sentenced Monday, May 13, in federal court in Aberdeen by U.S. District Judge Charles Kornmann.

According to court documents, Brant engaged in and attempted to engage in sexual acts with the two children between February and July 2007.

The FBI investigated the case. Brant was immediately taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service.
