In a news release Friday morning, Crosslake Chamber of Commerce Director Cindy Myogeto said the city council voted to cancel the parade due to the coronavirus situation an emergency meeting earlier in the morning.
"We recognize that it was a difficult decision and will abide by it," she wrote. "Our Chamber is now working to verify plans for related community events, many of which are organized by other organizations. For those who will be in the area, please remember that the vast majority of our member businesses are still looking forward to welcoming customers. Overall, we strongly encourage everyone to be Lakes Proud and make every effort to support your local businesses and organizations. We will provide more updates soon."
Businesses who plan to honor the lanyard specials and have other events they would like mentioned on the event website for the weekend should email Myogeto at Cindy@crosslake.com.
Brainerd Community Action also canceled its parade scheduled Saturday.
