A 44-year-old Crosslake man is facing felony charges for assaulting and robbing a man at a Crosby bar.

Chad J. Naslund was charged June 16 in Crow Wing County District Court in Brainerd with felony first-degree robbery, felony third-degree assault and misdemeanor of obstructing the legal process.

According to the probable cause court document filed against Naslund, on June 14, Crosby police officers responded to a call for an assault and robbery at the Spalding House Bar on West Main Street in Crosby.

Officers spoke with a male subject who indicated Naslund had approached him in front of the bar, they scuffled and he ended up on the ground; and Naslund forcibly took a pack of cigarettes from him, the court document stated.

Reviewing video footage from outside the bar, it shows Naslund grabbing the cigarettes from the male subject and then the two exchanged several jabs at each other and then Naslund connected with a full round-house punch to the left ear area leaving the victim collapsed on the ground.

After placing Naslund under arrest, he tried to pull away and kick his feet away from the officer as he was trying to search him. A Crosby lieutenant had to assist in trying to restrain Naslund against the car. Officers eventually got Naslund to the ground to restrain him and conduct the search. Naslund also threatened to spit in officers' faces.

Naslund has been convicted on several gross misdemeanor/misdemeanor assault charges from 2015 and 2016.

Naslund was scheduled to be in court Thursday for an omnibus hearing/pretrial hearing.
