The Crow Wing County DFL held its annual convention April 25 at the Brainerd Public Library. Delegates, alternates and guests filled the room.
The convention began at 10 a.m. Election of new party officers, appreciation and recognition for volunteers and leaders were on the agenda. Special guests included former Reps. John Ward and Joe Radinovich, and Congressman Rick Nolan, introduced by former Sen. Don Samuelson.
New officers elected for 2015-2017 were Enid Swaggertm chairperson; Tom Besnett, vice chairperson; Kathy Hegstrom, outreach and inclusion; Rich Engstrom, treasurer; Eric Norquist, secretary.
Directors to fill vacancies were Marcia Ferris, Lindy Grell, Tiffany Stenglein, Joe Simenstad and Radinovich.
Secretary of State Steve Simon was the Keynote Speaker. He spoke on "Voting Rights, Civic Engagement and Making Voting Easier for Eligible Minnesotan's." Joe Radinovich introduced Mr. Simon as they had served together in the House.
