The Android and iOS mobile applications for the Crow Wing County website have been discontinued because of lack of features, low usage and infrequent updates by the vendor, according to county officials.
"There simply wasn't enough value and service provided through the app to justify continuing to offer it. We hope to offer the app again in the future if it is updated to provide value to our citizens and users," Information Technology Manager Jay Sikkink said in a news release.
The county website is mobile-friendly, meaning it can be easily viewed on a mobile phone or tablet without the need for a standalone app.
"Given what the app offered, the inability to customize the app to suit what our users need and the lack of updates the app received from CivicPlus, the app was not enhancing the user experience or providing additional service," Sikkink said.
