Crow Wing County maintenance crews are sealing cracks this week on the Mill Avenue bridge.

The hairline cracks on the bridge's surface are detected through the use of mechanic creepers and are sealed to keep water from infiltrating the structure.

The work requires closure of one travel lane. Portable signal lights are directing traffic over the bridge with three-minute wait times.

Crews will then seal the Crosslake Dam bridge on County Highway 3 on Wednesday, Aug. 1, and Thursday, Aug. 2.

Next week, sealing will take place on County Highway 2 and County Highway 21 bridges.

Sealing on county bridges takes place every three years as a preventative maintenance practice to preserve and extend the life of the bridges.
