The Crow Wing County Snowmobile Trails Association, which represents the 12 snowmobile clubs in Crow Wing County, urged caution to snowmobilers this season, according to a news release.

While the snowmobile trails in Minnesota officially opened Dec. 1, there are still a number of issues snowmobile clubs must address and this can’t be accomplished until there's equipment out on the trails.

Due to a lack of cold weather, the swamps are open and there is no ice on the lakes. The clubs reported they will move as fast as they can to get the trails open and usable for the season but noted volunteers provide the work and schedules vary.

Snowmobilers were urged to respect private property and stay on designated trails when they open.
