The next Cultural Thursday event will be noon Thursday at Central Lakes College with CLC biology instructor Sherri Borowicz speaking about her experiences in Nicaragua.

For the past seven years, Borowicz has gone to Nicaragua in late February. She brought a team of volunteers for the last five years to help the people of Guayvilla, a small village. The team goes through the Nicaragua Resource Network organization. They do building projects, mostly homes, distribute food, host a women's honoring event and provide a children's service, among other things.

They built relationships with the people of Guayvilla and over the years, Borowitz developed a profound appreciation for the people and their culture, a news release stated.

The event will be livestreamed on CLC videography's YouTube livestreaming channel.
