Rekindled campfire threatens homes
Lumber stacked near a home in Deerwood Township caught fire Sunday, likely from a campfire rekindled by a change in wind direction, said Mike Bodle, assistant chief for the Deerwood Fire Department.
The fire department was called to Lakewood Drive on Shirt Lake around 2 p.m. Approximately 15 firefighters responded to the fire. Although the fire threatened nearby structures, the department contained it to the woodpile and cleared the scene by 3:30 p.m. No additional damage was reported.
