The Minnesota DFL Party is sponsoring an event at 4 p.m. today outside of Brainerd City Hall to mark Republican House Speaker John Boehner's visit to the Brainerd area for a fundraiser for 8th Congressional District Republican candidate Stewart Mills III. The Mills fundraiser will include a 5:30 p.m. VIP roundtable and a 6 p.m. VIP photo opportunity at Grand View Lodge.
The DFL has termed the event the "Personally Offensive Tour" and said it was designed to hold Mills accountable for what it claims are his comments that he finds it "personally offensive" for multi-millionaires like himself to pay their fair share.
The tour kicked off outside the Georgia Pacific plant in Duluth Wednesday, which the DFL said was closed nearly two years ago by Mills' financial supporters, the billionaire Koch brothers. This action cost some 140 workers their jobs, DFL officials said in a news release.
Mills could not be reached for comment on the DFL event on Wednesday.
