Podcast fans will now have a quick way to get daily, local news in a flash as the Brainerd Dispatch gets ready to launch its new podcast called “Brainerd Dispatch Minute.”
This is the first podcast of its kind in the Brainerd-Baxter media market and is a move designed to expand the Dispatch’s news delivery to include a new audience on the podcast platform. Since 2017, the Dispatch has produced the “DispatchCast” podcast, a general interest news podcast providing deeper insight into life in the lakes area. Sponsored by Cub Foods of Brainerd and Baxter, the “Brainerd Dispatch Minute” will be the first daily podcast created by the newsroom.
Brainerd Dispatch Publisher Pete Mohs said he’s excited to introduce the podcast featuring daily highlights of the top stories in the lakes area.
“The podcasts will help readers sort through what’s important to them — ranging from news to weather to sports,” Mohs said. “Readers can then follow our expanded coverage of the top stories in print and online.”

Editor Matt Erickson said he believes the “Brainerd Dispatch Minute” will be a great service for readers.
“It’s another avenue — along with our print and digital products — for them to find the news that is important to them and the content they want," Erickson said.
The Brainerd Dispatch Minute will combine the reporting power of the Brainerd Dispatch along with other Forum Communications Co. news properties across Minnesota to fill a niche with a podcast that will be available every morning Monday through Friday.
