Rescue calls turned to a search and recovery mission after a 60-year-old man failed to resurface after swimming on Adney Lake Sunday, July 8.
The police scanner noted the call for help to find the man just minutes after 3 p.m. Sunday. Preliminary reports indicate the St. Paul man was swimming with a group of people off a pontoon when he failed to come back up after entering the water.
The Crow Wing County Boat and Water Division and the county's dive team worked to locate the missing man throughout the afternoon until an approaching storm forced them to call off the search.
Search efforts are expected to continue Monday morning.
The 310-acre Adney Lake is southeast of Crosslake and south of Highway 36. Emergency vehicles were gathered along County Road 114 Sunday, near the lake.
