A 30-year-old woman was injured when a Dodge Ram attempted to pass her and lost control Monday morning, Oct. 15, on Highway 18 east of Brainerd.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported the Dodge and a Mercury Mountaineer were traveling west on Highway 18 near Division Road in Nokay Lake Township. The driver of the Dodge, Orville L. Hoglund, 37, Aitkin, attempted to pass the Mercury, driven by Christa A. Rasmussen, 30, Aitkin, when he lost control.
The Dodge struck the Mercury, and both vehicles went into the north ditch. The state patrol reported the roads were snow- and ice-covered during the time of the crash at 6:40 a.m.
Rasmussen was transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd for non-life-threatening injuries. Hoglund and his passenger, Benjamin E. Richardson, 33, Garrison, were not injured.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
