The Brainerd lakes area Miss United States queens are collecting school supplies and monetary donations to help the victims of Louisiana's catastrophic flooding.
Southwest Airlines and the Miss United States organization are teaming up with Saints punter Thomas Morstead, to get school supplies to children who live in the devastated areas.
The Brainerd area queens have collected "a successful amount of supplies" and $1,000 in monetary donations through a couple of the area's Lion's Clubs, a news release stated.
Those interested in donating to the cause, there is a drop off site at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd. On Sunday, following the church service, between 10:30 a.m. and noon, the Brainerd area queens will load the supplies into vehicles and drive them to Minneapolis to the Southwest Airlines Cargo counter to fly them off to Louisiana.
