Driver accused of DWI after nearly rear-ending school bus

MOORHEAD - Moorhead police riding a school bus looking for distracted drivers as part of a special campaign on Tuesday, April 12, arrested a man for on suspicion of drunken driving after a vehicle nearly struck the back of the bus.

The school bus the officers were riding on was stopped at a stop light when the officers noticed a vehicle approaching from the rear at a high rate of speed.

At the last minute, the driver swerved, nearly striking the rear of the bus and other cars before coming to a stop against the curb.

Lt. Deric Swenson said the driver, whom he identified as Kashki Sheikh-Mohamed, 27, of Fargo, N.D., was arrested on suspicion of DWI, no driver's license and careless driving.

Swenson said Sheikh-Mohamed's blood-alcohol concentration was 0.31 percent when he was tested at the Clay County Jail. The legal limit is .08 percent.
