Driver and his passengers injured in crash near Cass Lake

CASS LAKE - Several people were injured in a two-vehicle crash reported at 9:50 p.m., Jan. 27, at the intersection of 68th Avenue Northwest and Wakonabo Drive in Wilkinson Township in rural Cass Lake, reported the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

CASS LAKE - Several people were injured in a two-vehicle crash reported at 9:50 p.m., Jan. 27, at the intersection of 68th Avenue Northwest and Wakonabo Drive in Wilkinson Township in rural Cass Lake, reported the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Officers and responders arrived on scene and found two vehicles had collided. The investigation showed a 2002 GMC Envoy, driven by Jennifer Conner, 18, Cass Lake, which was occupied by Broderick Sayers, 19, and Taliah Obrien, 18, was northbound on 68th Avenue. A 2000 Pontiac Grand Am had proceeded through the intersection at Wakonabo Drive and 68th Avenue Northwest.

The male driver of the Pontiac, Thomas Huesers, 23, Cass Lake, was transported to Sanford Hospital in Bemidji and later flown to a Fargo hospital. Huesers had three juvenile passengers who were all transported to Sanford Hospital in Bemidji with non-life threatening injuries. They were Josie Keezer, 14; Anevay Keezer, 16; and Lance Robinson, 13.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Leech Lake Tribal Police Department, Pike Bay Police Department, Leech Lake DNR, Leech Lake Ambulance, Cass Lake Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol.
