ONAMIA — A 22-year-old woman was injured Thursday, Sept. 3, after falling asleep and crashing her Jeep Grand Cherokee on Highway 169 in Mille Lacs County.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported Hayleigh A. Nickaboine, 22, Onamia, was driving south on Highway 169 when the Jeep went off the road and hit the center median ditch. The state patrol reported the Jeep vaulted over 250th Street, south of Onamia, crossed over and came to rest in the northbound lanes. Nickaboine, who stated she fell asleep, was transported with minor injuries to the Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia.
Nickaboine’s passengers — Andres K. Alverez-Salgado, 18, and Marcos A. Nickaboine, an infant, both of Onamia — were not injured.
The Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office and North Memorial Health Ambulance assisted the state patrol at the scene.
The crash was reported at 5:30 p.m.
