DULUTH - A driver was killed in a one-vehicle rollover crash in northeast Minnesota on Wednesday night.

A passenger was trapped in the vehicle. After being extricated, the passenger was taken by helicopter to a Duluth hospital. The names of those involved in the crash were not being released by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office until families are notified.

The car crashed on Gamma Road near Kabetogama Lake about 30 miles southeast of International Falls.

The sheriff’s office reported that it appears as if the vehicle was coming out of a curve when the driver lost control, overcorrected and rolled the car. The car struck a tree on the opposite side of the road.

Excessive speed and alcohol appear to be factors, the sheriff’s office said in its initial report.
